While the narrative of the return of Syrian refugees dominates international debates about Syria, thousands of families in southern Syria are once again facing the impossible. Since July, escalating violence in Sweida and Daraa has forced nearly 200 000 people from their homes. Many sleep fully dressed, bags packed, ready to flee at any moment. Many homes lie in ruins, families are separated and communities are running out of food, water, and medicine.

Communities are asking for safety, dignity, and the chance to rebuild. We urge donors, policymakers, and humanitarian actors to listen to the realities of people in Sweida and give communities the opportunity to share their experiences and needs directly.
